Today, we’re introducing a completely re-designed editor which attempts to streamline the UX when you’re building content. We’re also introducing a new Cover Media editor to make it easier to create and edit cover media directly inside Pinpoint. Need help writing your content? The new editor
The new header area has been streamlined to give you an “at a glance” view of your content’s key information. We’ve made it easy to get to that information without overloading the margins. Supplementary information that’s not always needed during content creation is available but only when needed. For example, you can easily see data that you might need to discuss in the right side bar when you click the “Linked Data” or comment button:
In addition, we’ve added useful short cuts as a two state menu in the publish button:
You now have comments at the content level along with the existing comments on copy. This keeps conversation about the content all in one place at the click of a button.
Also, as requested, we have made it easier to include some information when you request a review so that the reviewer has specific context about the request. This avoids needless back and forths to gain context to the changes requested.
And another MAJOR capability we’ve had numerous requests for … content briefs along with request for external authors:
You can now request internal authors with a content brief. This is useful in organizations where you have different users that stage content vs the ones that typically author it. Also with internal authors, we’ve released a the ability to hire vetted, third-party professional writers. Once you complete the brief, within 24 business hours, we’ll find you an external writer who will usually complete the first draft within 5-7 business days (or shorter, depending on size of the piece). This is available in the paid subscription plan for an additional fee based on the number of words. Once you click “Hire a Writer”, we’ll be in contact the first time and from their it’s fully automated. Once written, you can make any additional updates or changes and publish when you’re ready!
And last, but certainly not the least, we’ve introduced a new Cover Media editor. Drag and drop in your cover media (we support images, videos and Youtube links) and we’ll automatically give you the ability to edit them directly in Pinpoint:
We’ll push them into our global CDN, crush and optimize the images for you automatically to avoid costly penalties when your sites are being indexed.
For images, you can control the foreground and optionally, background image along with properties such as color, radius and padding. For video, we also allow you to pick the best frame for your thumbnail image right inside the editor:
Performance and SEO
We’ve made some additional fixes in this past week to dramatically reduce the bundle size of your published content as well as continue to work on Performance and SEO. You can see our latest Google Lighthouse scores from one of our test pages generated right out of Pinpoint:
